On site, we offer a number of activities for caravaners of all ages.  Particular care has been taken to design in features which will ensure that children can play in safety with a freedom that they enjoy.

Dog Walk

No member of the family is forgotten when you come to stay at The Ranch.  We are very conscious of the importance to you of your pets and their needs and the seven acre dog walk provides an ample area for man's best friend to get some excercise.

Nature Pond

Located in the centre of the park, yet secluded from other activities, is the nature pond.  Home of much wildlife including a family of waterhens.

Children's Playpark

Located behind the Leisure Centre building and away from site traffic, children can play safely for hours and often do.  The play park is a well mown grassed area and comprises a range of pay equipment including swings, and see-saw, slide and climbing frame.

Football Area

Goal frames set out on a large open grassed area (set aside from the touring pitches) provides the perfect area on which budding superstars (or retired ones) can practice their skills.  The area is also suitable for all types of ball games, particularly cricket, and is also popular with kite flyers.

Family Gatherings

All pitches have generous areas built in allowing you to enjoy family barbecues or to entertain guests.  We are also able to set aside particular areas for the larger groupings to enable them to meet with friends in a manner which does not impact on other visitors to the site.  Nearby Culzean Castle, also offers picnic areas surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and wildlife.

Off-Site Outdoor Facilities

Whilst our on-site facilities provide such varied activities and pursuits that will keep our guests busy thought their stay with us, we recognise that equally many of you will use The Ranch as a base from which to explore South Ayrshire and beyond.  Listed below is a section of places of interest.

Golf

Ayrshire wouldn't be Ayrshire if we couldn't offer you a game of golf, and there can be no finer base for the keen holiday golfer than The Ranch.  The area abounds in golf courses, of all types and sizes, from the most exotic of venues such as the top class Ailsa and Arran courses at Turnberry, where the British Open is regularly held, to the local municipal course in Maybole.  The Park is run by an ex-tournament golf professional and it will be no surprise therefore to learn that there are enough courses within a twenty mile radius to allow the really keen golfer to play two different courses every day for a week.

Walking & Cycling

Visitors can enjoy good walking or cycling trails within easy reach of the Park.  For example, nearby Mochrum Hill, which overlooks Mochrum Loch, provides an unchallenging yet invigorating walk.  Cyclists will be pleased to learn that this area of Ayrshire is the training ground for many competitive riders including Graham Obree and members of the Scottish Mountain Bike team.  So the competitive cyclist can maintain their training wiilst the fun cyclist can enjoy the views.  Further information regarding routes is available on site.

Other Attractions

There are many more nearby visitor attractions including Galloway Forest Park with its forest drives and walks, conservation villages, cycling routes, theatres and cinemas.  Those who wish to dine out will find within a 10 mile radius there is a vast range of restaurants and hotels which cater for all tastes providing a large variety of cuisine.

If you are a sportsperson, The Ranch is for you.  If you are not a sportsperson, The Ranch is still for you.  We really do offer something for everyone.

Fishing

As with golf, Ayrshire boasts many quality venues (game, coarse or sea).  For the trout angler the little known but well stocked Mochrum Loch is located within half a mile of the Park and for the sea angler the Firth of Clyde coastline is equally adjacent.  Further information for anglers is available on site.

Local Services

Information is available on site regarding other services you may wish to visit including churches of all denominations, hair dresser, specialist shops etc.
